Dr. Shigaki earned from the University of Wyoming in 1991, and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1996. Since then, he has authored over 50 refereed papers in international journals, as well as book chapters from reputed publishers. He has an extensive experience in field plant pathology in tropical countries such as Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. Currently, he is Director of a Japanese NGO, Pacific Agriculture Alliance, and Researcher at the University of Tokyo. He also advises the Solomon Islands government and private companies on agricultural biotechnology.
